Consortium of Medical, Engineering, and Dental, Karnataka(COMEDK) conducts Post Graduation Entrance Test annually which is commonly referred to as COMEDK PGET. It is a state level entrance test. However, unlike COMEDK UGET, other state candidates can also take part in this examination. The examination is for entrance into post graduation medical and dental courses.
COMEDK PGET covers a total of 600 MD, MS and MDS seats in 12 Medical and 19 dental colleges in the state of Karnataka.
COMEDK PGET Eligibility Criteria:
The eligibility conditions laid down by the authorities have been provided in this section. Any candidate who fails to satisfy the eligibility criteria will not be allowed to take the test. Therefore it is advisable to read the conditions carefully before applying for the examination.
- Applicants of all the states of India are eligible to take COMDK PGET
- Applicants must have cleared the prescribed qualifying examination i.e. MBBS or BDS from an authorized institution/university
- An applicant must obtain 50% marks in the qualifying exam if he/she is a general category student and 40% marks if he/she belongs to SC/ST/OBC category
- Applicant must have finished his/her ‘Compulsory Rotatory Resident Internship’ and must have a valid Medical Council of India (MCI)/ Dental Council of India (DCI) certificate.
The exam is an online-based test consisting of 180 questions. All the questions asked in COMEDK PGET are multiple-choice questions where the candidate has to choose the most appropriate answer. Each candidate is given an OMR sheet to mark the answers with a ball-point pen. For each correct answer, the candidate is given one mark and there is no negative marking. The time duration of the examination is 3 hours. There are separate exams for PG medical and PG dental. The question paper is divided into 2 sections. The questions asked in COMEDK PGET are based on the syllabus given by Medical Council of India and Dental Council of India. The test centers are available across the country in various cities.
COMEDK PGET application forms are available online for which the candidate has to register on an online portal at www.comedk.org. The candidate has to fill the details required in the online application form. Along with the details, the candidates also have to upload a photograph, signature, ID proof and valid NEET PG or MDS score. The candidates are required to pay the application fees of INR 2500 through an online or offline mode of payment. The application fee can be paid through the debit/credit card or net banking or through the Demand Draft. Demand Draft should be in the name of COMEDK and should be payable at Bangalore. After submitting all the details as well as the application fee, the applicant is sent a Unique login ID and password via email and SMS on the given mobile number. Once the application is submitted and the payment is made, the candidate cannot make any kind of change in the application form. Therefore, it is advisable to all the candidates to fill the form carefully after reading each and every guideline properly.
COMEDK is responsible for releasing the answer key to the questions that were asked in the examination after the exam is conducted. The candidates have the right to defy the answers given in the answer key, which can be done by making a payment of INR 1000 through online payment mode. COMEDK is also responsible for declaring the results and forming the merit list according to the scores obtained by the candidates. Candidates can check the results on the official website of the consortium. The test scores are valid for admissions only for that particular academic year.
Once the results are out and the merit list is generated, the process of counseling starts which is managed by the Karnataka Examination Authority. The shortlisted candidates are given different counseling dates. The shortlisted candidates have to carry their original documents as well as certificates and are required to go through the biometric verification. The seats are allotted during the counseling session depending on the merit list so formed in accordance with the score that the candidates obtain in the exam. In order get admission in a university/college; it is compulsory for the candidate to appear for the counseling session. If a candidate fails to appear in the counseling process or fails to carry the original documents, his/her admission will be canceled by the authority.
